Lake Como from the shoreline of the resort town of Como
Como Lake is just one of the many beautiful lakes in the Italian Lake District of northern Italy. Como Lake is Italy's deepest lake (1345 ft. or over 400 m.) and third-largest. This area is a haven for tourists. The resort town of Como offers a spectacular view of the lake and of the surrounding mountains.

Water taxis, ferries and hydrofoils will take you to the towns and villas that dot the shoreline of the large lake.

an altar in the cathedral
The Duomo in Como has a Gothic-Roman facade and a 15th century dome. It is a large cathedral with spires and statues on the outside. Beautiful tapestries are hanging on either side of the central nave. The altars on the sides of the cathedral are decorated with gold. There is a lovely golden pipe organ. Our photos of the inside of the cathedral did not turn out.
